Transformation Project for Global Mining Giant

CSG leads the way in automating the major operations of a global mining giant.

About the Client

This mining group finds, mines and processes the earth’s mineral resources - metals and minerals essential for making thousands of everyday products that meet society’s needs and contribute to improved living standards.

Project Overview

As part of a strategic initiative to increase iron ore production to 320Mtpa by 2012 and reduce the need for increased accommodation and personnel growth in the Pilbara, our client undertook a business transformation programme which included the establishment of a control centre in Perth to accommodate and centralise key operational services in a single facility.

Using proven technology, the control centre combines the operational functions of 11 mines, 2 ports and an integrated network of heavy-haul railway in the region enabling them to be centrally and remotely controlled from over 1200kms away.

The purpose-built facility has been designed to incorporate leading-edge visualisation and collaboration tools to provide real-time information across the demand chain.
