Our client is a leading Australian resources company and one of the nation’s most successful explorers, developers and producers of hydrocarbon products. They employ over 4,500 technical and support staff including geologists, geophysicists, engineers, laboratory technicians and IT professionals.

Project Overview

CSG consultants conducted a strategic review of the organisation’s requirements for managing web-based content and associated workflow before undertaking a specification and product evaluation exercise.CSG successfully implemented the preferred solution, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.

Client Requirements

The client was seeking a solution that consolidated the current information assets as well as allowing users to:

  • Reduce business costs;
  • Migrate away from ageing legacy solutions; 
  • Improve business performance;
  • Minimise impact of business change; and
  • Provide a high availability platform to support future needs.

    Our Solution

    CSG was engaged to deliver the new system using its MOSS 2007 experience, having worked with it as a beta product. The proposed system included the following elements:

  • Development of corporate intranet;
  • Internal and external collaboration sites;
  • Development of Knowledge Management System;
  • Enterprise Search capability;
  • Instant Messaging and Presence;
  • Business Intelligence capability;
  • Business Process Automation with forms and workflow; and
  • A detailed staff directory.
  • Real-time system integration was achieved with several key line-of-business systems including the established Document Management System (Hummingbird) and SAP. CSG’s engagement covered project management, business analysis and change and communication management in addition to technical leadership. CSG was also responsible for graphic design, and delivering an aestheticaly pleasing, user friendly interface.
